Travel 90km south from Alice Springs to Rainbow Valley to meet your host, a Traditional Custodian. Here we relax over a mug of Billy Tea and are introduced to an amazing Culture and Country. After tea, your host will share the spectacular Art Site of Rainbow Valley where we will experience, rock art, engravings and occupations sites never before open to the public.

In the mid afternoon, your Aboriginal guide will share the ancient landscape of Rainbow Valley and explain some of its Cultural significance. In the late afternoon, admire the changing colours of a spectacular sunset. This unique tour blends Culture and Country with the bold beauty of Central Australia. It will leave you with lasting memories and a greater understanding of Aboriginal Culture.

Hermannsburg Cultural Precinct Tour

Hermannsburg Historic Precinct has an Indigenous Tour Guide, Nicholas. Nicholas is a traditional Western Aranda man and his family are traditional land owners for this area. He provides knowledge of history and share Indigenous stories from this area relating to the precinct and of famous locals such as the renowned Aboriginal Artist – Albert Namatjira.

Black Tank Apmwerre Cultural Tours

Your Discovery Ecotours Australia Guide will pick you up from your accommodation in Alice Springs and we will drive approximately one hour north to the community of Black Tank. On arrival, you will meet and welcomed by your Aboriginal Guide who will take you on a walk of these ancient homelands of the Arrernte people throughout the tour you will experience tradition, culture and an insight into their song-line (creation story). You will discover bush foods and indigenous art along the way, concluding the tour with your own dot painting and a display of their traditional dance.

Kurrparru Tours

The Rim Walk is physically challenging, it begins with a steep climb to the top of the Canyon Hill. Then follow the Canyon Rim around before descending into the Garden of Eden. Approximately halfway along the walk a delightful area of cool waterhole and riverine vegetarian communities. Guides use the magnificent landscape to illustrate the Tjukurrpa (creation time) that have shaped the land and lives of the people that live here. This includes creation stories where ancestral being journeyed across the land creating features as they went the exploits of Kupparru the Australian magpie, is one such story. The high escarpment is a great vantage point to discuss the arrival of early explores and settlers and the effect they had on the live’s of Luritja people. along the way your guide will show you bush foods, medicine, plants, tools, and weapons used by Aboriginal people.

*** This walk requires a medium to high level of fitness with some strenuous sections.
